As you drive past west of Mitchell Queensland along the Warrego highway, 35km from Mitchell Queensland, there is a stand of ooline. The ooline is commonly described as an attractive tree with bright green leaves and distinctive tile patterned bark. Ooline was once widespread in the bottle tree softwood scrubs of central Queensland. A sign off to your right takes you in to experience the ooline environment. This roadside rest for travellers has been designed to create an awareness of the special significance of these relics of previous times of higher rainfall in the region. Ooline forest
